LONG ATIP CHRISTMAS 08

It was a wonderful Christmas 2008. We have spend sometime in Long Atip Village during the Christmas. It always been a wonderful trip. It took us 6 hours from Miri's city to Long Atip using 4X4 vehicle of road. A relaxation retreat from the hustle of a city life. Long Atip is a Kayan village.

The picture below is Kampung Long Atip with the modern facilities such as satelite phone, satelite TV, electric generator, water filter system, church, and school.

The kayan maiden during christmas day. Dress up in the traditional attire. Their graceful dance move is very captivating.

Our uncle who carve the traditional string instrument called Sape and he play the sape very well.
Hanging at the back of him are some of his work for sales. The sape cost between Ringgit Malaysia 8oo to a few thousand.

BBQ and Picnic at Padawan

A marvelous weekend was spend with good laugh and fun with friends at a beautiful stream at Kampung Benuk, Padawan. It a potential place to be a nature tourism spot.

We start our journey at 8.30 am by going to breakfast, as we were informed by my friend to be at the meeting point at 9.30 am... we rush and at the end all of us meet at 10.30 am but have a good fun drive.

A view of the mountain range at Padawan before we turn into the access road to the picnic spot.

We park our car at our friend's house and walk a bit to the picnic spot. Then we set up the portable tent by the side of the stream.

Nice and welcoming, cool stream water which is not deep and the water current is not strong, suitable for kids to swim in.

Our friends with their kids searching for river snail (Tekoyong in the local language).
Our friend trying his luck fishing at the stream. The fish is biting but unfortunately did not catch any fish.

A good swim at the stream.

BBQ was planned for during this picnic. We had BBQ lamb and cat fish (Ikan keli). we also have pansuh ikan keli (A traditional way of cooking by putting the fish and ingredience into the bamboo).
Yummy...yummy stuff. left me alone doing the BBQ as they are having fun in the stream.

RELAXING AT PALM BEACH RESORT, SAMATAN

Samatan Palm Beach Resort have provided us with a wonderful day of relaxing at the beach and a wonderful view of the sea. As our activities was free and easy, we went around the small town of Samatan, watching the local people doing their trade at the fish market. We are lucky as fresh fish was sold at that day. Then we went to the Samatan jetty with the crystal clear water. We were wondering why no anglers are fishing because usually we will see a few anglers fishing at the jetty.

The palm beach resort also have chalets, restaurant and facilities for rent which include the mountain bike, jet ski, kite, boat to go snokelling, diving or fishing.

A place to lay down late in the afternoon or early morning to enjoy the scenery.

Lovely Hibiscus flower at the resort.

The row of chalets for rent by visitors.

Remote Control Car

Going fast...very fast in a car, is an adrenaline rush. The control of the vehicle with all the expert maneuver yet...crash occur. Luckily I am driving my RC Car. (RC = Remote Control)

It have been fun playing with the RC Car and it release tension after a hard days work or weekend. RC Car is cheap compared to in the 80's.
A street racer which is an old model. Now we can purchase an RC Car which is better and faster.

A RC Nikko Buggy which was given to me as birthday present years ago by Candy. The first RC buggy that I have.

Side by side. The street racer is much faster then the buggy.

Another view of the street racer.

A Beautiful Rustic Place To Be: Padungan, Kuching

Padungan rustic and surreal with its' own hastic paces in a modern Kuching City.

It have been a while that we went to Padungan in Kuching. For us, it always as beautiful as it is. With the trees lining up on the road divider which makes it look surreal. The row of not so old shop lining on the side of the road with it old style architecture (not that really old) that makes it look rustic.

We can still find some of the old bakery shop making those old style cookies that are hard to find in a supermarket.

Good eateries places can be found in this street. If you want a nice place to hang out with friends, you have a few choices. For those who wish to unwind after a hard days work either with beer or tea or any cocktails then you surely can find some of the place that suit you.

The Girls lunch date.

It was just another crave for a little extra than ordinary and fortunately it was a special day for our friend Donna who celebrated her ?? birthday. Not that i don't want to mention the number but due to our respect to her so I decided to have you speculating about it. To some people age is something sensitive, no?

So we all decided to head to Tomoi, a Japanese Restaurant that we have visited for quite sometimes now. The food is not bad at all and you can see it in the pictures attached. Our beloved Japanese friend, Misato is a point of reference and basically all the food we walloped that day were of her recommendation. Since I am no expert in Japanese food i thought the food were marvelous and really worth the money.

This photo is taken by Salmiah who always has a good eye on
almost anything although it might just a half eaten sushi.

This is a lunch bento set of salmon and mind you it was really good:)

Another mouth watering menu - marvelous Japanese pizza!

This is the faces of all the hungry girls who can't wait to have their meal served on the table

A smoked fish (can't remember the fish name) a favorite of Misato, but we all had a bite of it:)

Laura's favorite - a big chunk of salmon yummy!

See what i mean? A busy traffic of hungry hands... rushing for the sushi. A second later, it has all disappeared!

Hungry but always ready to pose. L-R: Miaw, Sal and Laura

Smile:). L-F: Misato, Donna the birthday girl and me!

Above all, this is a moment to remember and to Donna, we wish her all the best for her Ph.D.. just don't come back with a Permanent head damaged alright girl...

Going 'macro' with the lens

Thank God! We managed to buy a cute solid Canon digital camera to play around with. It definitely can't beat the expensive digital SLR camera but with the limited budget we had, we are happy with this little thing cos it allows us to snap and record things around us ever since. As a start, we documenting our very own plants and flowers by using the macro mode that comes with the camera. The result? Not bad! It looks good right? We're thrilled and delighted that this little thing can do wonder!

So, here we presenting to you our first series of flowers by macro mode.

Hardy said "we're fooling around with the camera" and I said nope! "we are flirting with the camera" *sigh*
